Thanksgiving is just two weeks away: How are dinner preparations going? Let’s try to focus on being grateful… that we have all these guests to stress about. With these last few days to prepare, Austinites could consider study up on wine pairings or let off some steam during an early gathering of friends.
If you need help before Turkey Day or plan to stop cooking altogether, here are 10 options to make it happen before the Thanksgiving holiday. We might even add more as we hear more, so stay tuned for more ideas.
This Spanish and North African-inspired takeout will be a hot topic on many Thanksgiving tables. El Raval’s ready-to-eat Christmas meal serves four to six people and includes a whole roast turkey and a portion of bread with tomato for each; jus; a salad with apples, pears and fennel; roasted potatoes; and roasted cauliflower with cardamom sauce, tamarind chutney and oxtail cannelloni. The meal also includes a whole Basque cheesecake and select wines can be added for an additional fee. Goodstock by Nolan Ryan
From fully cooked whole smoked turkeys to Cajun-seasoned and honey-glazed spiral hams, there are plenty of ways to make Thanksgiving a lot less stressful, thanks to Goodstock’s holiday meal prep deals. If turkey and ham aren’t on the menu this Turkey Day, you can choose from perfectly prepared brisket, loin roast, and ribs. There are three different quiches available to accompany: ham and cheddar, spinach and mushroom, and quiche Lorraine. Texas Pie Company will help with dessert, which includes rich pie flavors like chocolate fudge, classic pumpkin, Dutch apple, key lime and southern pecan. Items can be ordered to go. online and will be picked up at the Goodstock store in Round Rock from November 15 to 22 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Austin’s neighborhood lobster shack has several festive takeout deals throughout November and December. Diners can choose from three different pies (pumpkin, key lime or pina colada), add a quart of Garbo’s signature lobster bisque ($50), order a nine-inch lobster pie ($48) or purchase a lobster roll kit home. that can serve between two and eight people ($44-$176). The Violet Crown Wine Bar and Cafe
Who says Thanksgiving dinner can’t include cold cuts? The Violet Crown is preparing gourmet charcuterie boards for any party and gathering. Options include cheese-only boards, meat-only boards, and meat and cheese combo boards. You can add a pack of three wines (two red and one sparkling) or a pack of six wines (two white, two red, one orange and one sparkling) at an extra cost. Charcuterie Party Packs can be ordered online through The Violet Crown’s websiteand will be available for pickup Nov. 21-22 from 2 to 6 p.m.
Open Thanksgiving Day, November 23

Luminaire will serve a special three-course Thanksgiving meal all day, Nov. 23-25, in addition to its regular menu options. The first course consists of a chicory salad with apples and Marcona almonds. The main course is a chayote casserole with heirloom turkeys (raised locally and organically at Bastrop’s Countryside Farms) and smoked parsnips. An olive oil “tres leches” cake with Texas walnut sea salt ice cream will complete the third and final course. The Thanksgiving meal costs $55 per person and reservations can be made through open table.
On Thanksgiving Day, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m., Carpenters Hall will serve a three-course feast of all the holiday classics with a few added twists. The meal will begin with pumpkin soup, followed by traditional turkey with parsnip and mashed potatoes, cranberry-orange sauce, green beans, stuffing and gravy. Dinner is never complete without dessert, which will be served with your choice of pumpkin pie or Christmas sorbet. Optional wine pairings can be provided for $30 per person. Most Thanksgiving options will also be available a la carte throughout the day. The prix fixe menu costs $65 per person and reservations can be made through resy.
Nest in El Loren
Family-style meals are a tradition this time of year, and Nido will be offering its own special meal from 12 to 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. In addition to roast turkey, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, guests will also be able to try Nido’s chestnut soup, Brussels sprouts, Parker House rolls and a pumpkin panna cotta for dessert. As a note, the restaurant’s regular menu will not be available on Thanksgiving Day. Reservations can be made through open table.
Thanksgiving food doesn’t have to come from one of the 13 colonies; James Beard Award-winning chef Mashama Bailey puts a Southern twist on classics with a family-style four-course prix fixe. The hotel’s restaurant (part of the Thompson Austin) hasn’t shared a Thanksgiving menu yet, but it’s sure to offer some down-home dishes in the dedicated space; Some of Bailey’s best-known creations are dirty rice and popsicles. Desserts to take away
This Westlake bakery is making the sweetest seasonal desserts for Thanksgiving, including a delicious pumpkin cheesecake, turkey-shaped sugar cookies, a cranberry orange pie, and more. SusieCakes will also have their classic range of cakes (pumpkin, pecan and apple crumble) available for pre-order. All Thanksgiving desserts reserved by November 21st can be picked up on November 22nd. Orders can be placed online through susiecakes.com or by calling 737-637-2253.
Pre-orders for Thanksgiving desserts are also available at Bakery Lorraine through November 17. Shoppers can choose from a wide range of delicious pie flavors: roasted pumpkin with butter maple leaf topping; Jack Daniels Infused Whiskey Pecan; Dutch apple topped with cinnamon streusel; and apple-cranberry (also topped with cinnamon streusel). All Thanksgiving pies can be ordered. online or in-store, and will only be available for pickup at the Bakery Lorraine location in the domain on November 22. A special advent calendar featuring 24 handmade treats is also available to pre-order to kick off the Christmas season. Advent calendars must be reserved in advance online before November 19 and can be picked up in store or shipped starting November 22.
